Guides to the weird, wonderful, and slightly seedy.

Headquartered in London, Herb Lester Associates creates beautifully illustrated guides to cities that feature locations associated with literature, rock’ n’ roll, the occult, and wider pop culture. Two of their latest offerings are based on works by well known spy authors, Mick Herron and John leCarré. We were tasked with designing everything from the outer packaging to the map to the special inserts, along with all the illustrations.

This guide explores the London of John le Carré and his most famous creation – master spy George Smiley. We designed this map in a simplistic and dry manner (much like the show, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) that evokes book covers from the 70’s/80’s, all while plotting out Smiley’s various haunts around London. Bonus bookmark included.

This entry in the spy guide series takes you through the darker underbelly of London via the exploits of Jackson Lamb and his rag tag spy misfits. Based on Mick Herron’s Slow Horses series, Lamb’s London is the polar opposite of the smooth James Bond. Coaster included to aid in tossing a few back while stumbling from haunt to haunt.
